An opportunity to spend a weekend in the middle of the North York Moors at Barmoor Quaker House.

A resting place at the end of the year to nourish yourself with gentle yoga, mindful walking and body work together with writing for well being.

We would like to invite the possibility of a shared experience this weekend alongside your personal one. We will nourish the richness to be experienced from community away from our everyday lives.

There will be logs fires, cosy sitting rooms and a beautiful yoga space. Delicious and creative vegetarian food prepared with love by Kate Zaleska.

The intention will not be to write a poem or a story (though these may result) the intention will be to be curious about the process and how our bodies can find a voice via our writing hand.

RUTH SMITH

I used Massage,Yoga and Reflexology for years to help manage & balance my busy life. I became a therapist over 10 years ago because I had an understanding of how powerful the space, stillness and awareness that comes from taking time for ourselves truly is.

I have worked with many different people, taught relaxation, Reflexology and Massage in different forms, I specialise in maternity, working before during and after pregnancy.

My approach is simple, very simple, one which involves creating the environment and space for you to find a pathway through the dense, to the clarity that can lie beyond. I have an interest in and sense that community is vital, in our wider world but also within this work - being together allowing our tension to melt and our bodies to open has real power for all involved.

JULES WATSON

I have been practising yoga and therapies for over 30 years, I run a Natural Health Centre where I work with various body therapies and the Metamorphic Technique.

Since last September I have been teaching small groups in Gentle, Restorative and Transformational HathaYoga. I am inspired by the work of Billy Doyle, Kashmir Yoga and the Scaravelli approach, Diane Long, Bill Wood, the late Gaston Saint-Pierre.
 
We need to bring some humour into our bodies and allow ourselves to play with postures and working with the flow of energy that comes when we relax.
 

KATE EVANS

Kate is a writer of fiction, poetry and non- fiction. In recent years she has published a number of works. She has created two word-based art installations for Coastival. She has an MA in Creative Writing from Sussex University and co-ordinates and teaches on the Degree in Creative Writing at the University of Hull.

She is a trained psychotherapeutic counsellor and,both personally & professionally is exploring the therapeutic aspects of creative writing.

Her healing words workshops have been running for several years and she is a member of Lapidus.

She believes we are narrative creatures and storytelling is a fundamental to our understanding of our world and ourselves. Using gentle facilitated exercises and free writing, Kate will invite participants to explore their narrative, and especially the narrative theirbody knows, through creative writing.
